Costa Rica · Regenerative Land Initiative
Steward of the Land partners with landowners to transform underutilized property into fertile, biodiverse, and thriving landscapes.
Our Vision
Steward of the Land exists to help landowners transform underutilized property into healthy, productive landscapes through regenerative agriculture, ecological restoration, and community stewardship.
We believe every piece of land has the potential to become more fertile, more biodiverse, and more valuable — not only financially, but environmentally and socially.
"Rather than focusing on ownership or permanent development, our mission is simple: leave every property healthier than we found it."
Why We're Building This
Many people move to Costa Rica dreaming of reconnecting with nature and finding genuine community — but that dream is harder to live than it sounds. As lot sizes shrink and development spreads, the space to grow your own food, tend the land, and build real relationships with neighbors disappears fast.
That's exactly why this exists. Through hands-on permaculture education and regular community days, we're building something that neither a small suburban lot nor a solo homestead can offer on its own: a place where skills are shared, food is grown together, and friendships are rooted in something real.
Whether you're a landowner looking to steward your property with purpose, or someone who simply wants to get their hands in the soil and show up for community garden days — there's a place here for you.
Regular community days that bring landowners, neighbors, and volunteers together around shared purpose.
Permaculture skills and food-growing practices you can carry with you — whether you have a hectare or a balcony.
The kind of friendships that form when people work side by side — not just socialize. Real bonds, built in the dirt.
What We Do
Each project is shaped around the landowner's goals and the land's own character. No two sites are the same.
Restoring neglected landscapes to ecological health
Removing invasive vegetation that crowds out native species
Building healthy soil through composting and mulching
Planting fruit trees and native species suited to Costa Rica
Establishing food forests and community gardens
Improving water retention and erosion control
Creating wildlife and pollinator habitat corridors
Hosting educational workshops and volunteer workdays
Documenting measurable improvements over time
Our Commitment to Landowners
We understand that allowing others onto your property requires trust. Every partnership is built on transparency, communication, and respect.
We are not seeking ownership or long-term control of your property. We are seeking the opportunity to serve as responsible stewards of the land for an agreed period of time.
How We Measure Success
Our goal is not simply to plant gardens. Our goal is to measurably improve the health of the land. Each project is documented so both the landowner and stewardship team can clearly see the positive impact created over time.
Before-and-after photography at each stewardship stage
Soil testing and annual improvement tracking
Trees, native plants, and food-producing species established
Compost produced and biomass returned to the land
Yield documented and shared with the community
Wildlife and pollinator observations over time
Community participation and skill-building recorded
Retention, erosion control, and watershed improvements
Comprehensive stewardship report delivered to landowner
A Partnership Built on Stewardship
"We don't ask for land to keep. We ask for the opportunity to leave it better than we found it."
If you have land in Costa Rica that could benefit from regenerative stewardship, we'd love to hear from you. Tell us a little about your property and your goals.
